Salina Public Library Newsletter for December

Salina Public Library Newsletter for December

We have two really fun contests going on through the month of December.
First, The Library is sponsoring a coloring contest for kids. Come in and get your picture. There is an easy picture the younger kids and a picture that is a little more difficult for the older kids.

We will display the pictures in the library until December 23 at 5:00 P.M. We will notify the winner on December 30.

Second, The library along with Fullmer Menagarie Animal Resucue are sponsoring a contest to name the baby donkey.

A little baby girl donkey has been given to the animal rescue. They would like the community to help name the baby donkey.

Come into the library and give us your suggestions about what you would like the baby's name to be. Come to the library, see her picture, put in for the drawing and see if your name wins.
You are also invited to go to the animal rescue to see the new arrival at 1225 Old Hyw 10. On the Park road.

We will draw fot the name on December 30. So come in and join the fun. You don't have to be present to win for either contest.

We are trying to make checking out reading counts books easier at the library. So far we have done the high school list. We are planning to do the middle school and the elementary school list as well. We have taken the reading counts list, marked the books we have available in the library. Then we have have marked all hte reading counts books with a green dot. UTAH PIONEER DATA BASE TRAINING

on September 11, 2008, Brenda and Ronda went to Utah Valley University in Provo, Utah for a training on how to use the updates version of Utah Pioneer Data Base. Pioneer is supplied to libraries throughout the state by the Utah State Library.

We spent the day taking different classes. Learning how to do car repair, teach children new ways to find information to do homework assignments. We learned about how to access the new family history site. Heritage Quest. We learned how to use the new program called Overdrive. This is a program to daownload audiobooks onto an Mp3 Player from their library.
The books are checked out to you for two weeks then they are checked back in to Overdrive automatically. Its a great way to get books that your library may not have or may not have in audiobook. Come in to the library and check it out.

We learned a lot while we were there. We met new library friends and enjoyed the day.
Now we have learned lots of new things we are inviting patrons to come into the Library and let us show you the new things that are available on the new Utah Pioneer website.
