News from Salina Public Library
The Staff at Salina Public Library would like to thank everyone who has donated books, movies and sound recordings to the library. It is appreciated. We always like to add to our collection. In your spring cleaning efforts this year, if you run into any books, cds or movies that you may not want any longer. Think of us. Our arms are always open to donations of any kind. Thank for all that you have sone to help us.
Summer Reading is coming up really soon. We are excited to get started this year. This years theme is " Make a Splash @ your Library". We are going to have Gina Ogden direct the program this year. She has some great ideas for the kids. Summer reading will be held at the Aurora Park this year. With lots of water games and outside activities the park will be a good place to explore the SPLASH. Summer Reading will start June 9th at 1:00 p.m. Registration will begin May 24 th. We are hoping to rotate summer reading each year between the three towns involved. It has always been in Salina. We decided that maybe it would be a good idea to rotate. So this year it will be in Aurora . next year in Redmond and the next year back in Salina. We wil see how it works. We hope you all will like this idea and support us like you always have. Thanks

Celebrate National Library Week at SalinaPublic Library
We are celebrating National Library Week at the library. Come in and see what we are doing.
We are having our annual book adoption this month. We were closed when we were supposed to
have it so we are having it inconjunction with National Library Week.
We have books here you can adopt and donate to the library or you are welcome to buy a book
and donate it to the library. For every book donated or adopted to the library we have a treat
for you for being so kind to us. Along with books we would also accept movies with no higher
than a PG rating. We are trying to keep our movie section family oriented.
We are also having a fine amnesty. If you come in a pay your fines in the month of April, we will
forgive 1/2 of your fine. Its a great way to take care of any fines you may have.
Com on in this week, there will be all kinds of surprises.

Newsletter March, 2009
After being closed for six weeks having repairs done on our ceiling, getting the fllors cleaned and the shelves put back in place and the books back on the shelves. We are up and ready to go.
We were about to lose our ceiling so thanks to Mickelsen Construction we have a new retaining wall and no more drooping ceiling. YES!!! Thanks to our city maintenance crew and the inmate work crew from Sevier County Jail. These guys are amazing. The library was put back together in record time. It took us week to put the books back on the shelves. We turned the library a little backward so if you have trouble finding things, we will be glad to help you find what you need. UTAH PIONEER DATA BASE TRAINING
on September 11, 2008, Brenda and Ronda went to Utah Valley University in Provo, Utah for a training on how to use the updates version of Utah Pioneer Data Base. Pioneer is supplied to libraries throughout the state by the Utah State Library.
We spent the day taking different classes. Learning how to do car repair, teach children new ways to find information to do homework assignments. We learned about how to access the new family history site. Heritage Quest. We learned how to use the new program called Overdrive. This is a program to daownload audiobooks onto an Mp3 Player from their library.
The books are checked out to you for two weeks then they are checked back in to Overdrive automatically. Its a great way to get books that your library may not have or may not have in audiobook. Come in to the library and check it out.
